Further Physical Description: Ian has been able to keep himself physically fit over the course of his career at starfleet. It is apparent to those that meet him that age is starting to settle in as his hairs are beginning to grey. Ian continually keeps himself clean and neat as he feels that the way he looks represents his attitude towards his duty and his position.
Personality and Traits
Overall Personality: Ian is a leader at heart and is easy to get along with. He does treat his subordinates with respect but also demands respect in return. Ian is someone who is very knowledgeable and is willing to listen to all sides to make the best decision possible, even going so far as to listening and considering viewpoints that might be completely contradictory to his own.
Ambitions: Ian wishes to excel at commanding a starship. As a former science officer Ian seeks scientific exploit and advancement where possible on the USS Merlin. He does hope to increase his knowledge and experience in a wide variety of areas as a commanding officer.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Ian’s strengths come from being a leader and having a brilliant mind. Right now he is new to command and whether or not he will live up to the position is on the mind of a lot of people.
Hobbies/Interests: Ian will forever remain a student. He is a studious reader and frequently finds himself wrapped up in books. He does enjoy writing now and again and enjoys playing a number of sports on the holodeck including baseball.

Background: Ian has always had a passion for the stars and science. From a young age Ian began to dive into astrophysics learning as much as he can to the point where it became sheer passion. Ian studied and studied to get into Starfleet Academy knowing that it would be there where he would be able to follow his dreams.
While in Starfleet Ian has been a part of a number of important research projects and have even started some of his own which include advancements which the Starfleet Corps of engineers is implementing into useful applications of federation starships.
